For Farmers

We’re focused on your bottom line

The Seven Mile Creek Watershed Partnership is working with farmers and landowners of all kinds to improve water quality through conservation activities that cost little, nothing or even add to a farm’s bottom line. We believe that modern farming methods, a vibrant farm economy, and excellent water quality are not mutually exclusive. Join us!

Our services for landowners & farmers

We work with farmers to evaluate the potential for and install structural projects and nutrient management practices that control erosion, runoff, and nutrient loss. We also help landowners get conservation benefits from marginal or underused land, transition to farming practices that reduce input costs, and explore options for diversifying farm income through market-based conservation activities.

These practices reduce sediment and nutrients entering the creek and make our area a model for how voluntary practices can be successful.

We have worked with 25% of watershed farmers. Get in touch so we can work with you too.

Kernza® and cover crops offer new opportunities

Kernza® is the registered trade name for intermediate wheatgrass, a perennial grain similar to wheat. The Minnesota variety has been planted on 1,172 acres across the state to date, and eastern Nicollet County is an area of interest for more acres. We’re partnering with Forever Green and other partners to plant more acres here. We’ll post more information about this new crop and other new crops that offer exceptional opportunities for market development and environmental benefits. Learn more on Forever Green’s website, contact us, or check back here for more updates and upcoming videos about this and other exciting new crops.
